In January 2024, a second fixed noise monitoring station was installed in the Cramond area at Cramond Primary School. This monitor will enhance the precision of our noise contour mapping, crucial for identifying areas eligible for Insulation Scheme assistance. Additionally, the monitor offers valuable insights to the community, and we are collaborating closely with the school to integrate it into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning initiatives. Noise levels are measured by our noise monitors located in Cramond, Broxburn and Livingston. The noise monitors in Cramond and Broxburn are located 6.5km from start of roll (the point in the runway where a flight begins its departure movement), and measure both arriving and departing aircraft noise. The noise monitor at Cramond Primary School is closer to the Airport and the aircraft on approach are at a lower altitude than those passing over the monitor at Cramond Manse A mobile noise monitoring unit was installed in the garden area of a property in Dalgety Bay in late April 2024, this monitor will remain at the site for a period of 1 year. The data from the unit is available to view on our Noise Lab and Flight tracking websites https://noiselab.casper.aero/edi/ |
